More great reviews for our new record "Hover"

"Hover" has been out a few months now, but the positive reviews are still coming in. The current issues of Skyscraper (issue 30) and Under the Radar (issue26) both feature pretty stellar reviews of our latest release. Check them out at your local news stand. The fine folks at Dagger Magazine also love our new record and you can read that review here. For those of you who speak French here's a cool review from Raw Power magazine.

Finally Jack Rabid from the Big Takeover continues to play us on his excellent radio program at breakthruradio.com, check it out!

SXSW update on bigtakeover.com

Well, sorry, South by Southwest was so much fun that I sort of stopped updating our blog, and then I allowed that laziness to carry through after we got home. Anyway, the good news is that I wrote on article on our experiences, and you can read the whole at the Big Takeover website here.

SXSW day a million

Hard to believe we've been on the road for five days already and I'm just now getting around to posting. Ok, so Saturday we played in San Diego at the Soda Bar with Aimless Never Miss, The Union Trade and The Burning of Rome. The show was super fun, the Burning of Rome guitarist was kind of nuts, jumping around the club, playing on top of the pool table, good times.

After a lot of traveling, we finally got to Austin last night. This city is so beautiful, it's really great to be back. We ended up at a house party last night, to see Aimless again and my cousin's band Saything. It's always fun to see bands in someones living room, loud but fun!

Tonight's the big night the Devil in the Woods showcase at the Independent. If you're in Austin, come on by!

Noisepop Happy Hour

We played the Noisepop happy hour event last night and it was super rad. If I can be reflective for a moment, I just realized that we've now played both the Noisepop and the South by Southwest festivals. I think back to when we started this band years ago, playing those two events was something we really wanted, and now we can say we've done it!

Ok back to Nosiepop. The show was at a really cool bar called Bender's which was on Van Ness in the Mission. The decor was pretty cool, the ceiling was decorated with hundreds of origami cranes. The staff, the owner, bartenders, soundman, door guy were all super friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Also, free Tecate and PBR's for band members, so bonus!

We got there early, and at first it seemed like attendance might be kind of light, but around 5:30 like clockwork, people started pouring in and soon the place was packed. First band on was Evacuee, a really cool, rocking, loud three piece. Actually all the bands were three pieces, it was power trio night! One neat thing about Evacuee is that they switch instruments between every song, like an indie rock chinese fire drill.

We were on second, and I felt like we played pretty well. We had a great time on stage, I was very relaxed and having fun, and we got a great response from the crowd.

Our friends and labelmates Aimless Never Miss were on next, and they put on a great show as usual. Johnny is just a fantastic guitar player and singer, Eric is one of the best drummers I have ever seen, and Macey is just super solid on bass.

So, all in all, a really good night, probably my favorite show we've ever done in San Francisco. Next month should be great as well, we've got SXSW again plus some other things cooking, so stay tuned.
