Noisepop Happy Hour

We played the Noisepop happy hour event last night and it was super rad. If I can be reflective for a moment, I just realized that we've now played both the Noisepop and the South by Southwest festivals. I think back to when we started this band years ago, playing those two events was something we really wanted, and now we can say we've done it!

Ok back to Nosiepop. The show was at a really cool bar called Bender's which was on Van Ness in the Mission. The decor was pretty cool, the ceiling was decorated with hundreds of origami cranes. The staff, the owner, bartenders, soundman, door guy were all super friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Also, free Tecate and PBR's for band members, so bonus!

We got there early, and at first it seemed like attendance might be kind of light, but around 5:30 like clockwork, people started pouring in and soon the place was packed. First band on was Evacuee, a really cool, rocking, loud three piece. Actually all the bands were three pieces, it was power trio night! One neat thing about Evacuee is that they switch instruments between every song, like an indie rock chinese fire drill.

We were on second, and I felt like we played pretty well. We had a great time on stage, I was very relaxed and having fun, and we got a great response from the crowd.

Our friends and labelmates Aimless Never Miss were on next, and they put on a great show as usual. Johnny is just a fantastic guitar player and singer, Eric is one of the best drummers I have ever seen, and Macey is just super solid on bass.

So, all in all, a really good night, probably my favorite show we've ever done in San Francisco. Next month should be great as well, we've got SXSW again plus some other things cooking, so stay tuned.

49% man

Our Fresno release shows went great, looking forward to San Francisco tonight. We should have some pictures from all the shows posted soon.

I was reading edluv's blog today and was intrigued by the idea of the gender analyzer. Well, it turns out the gender analyzer is 51% sure this blog is written by a woman. I guess this explains why I always got picked last for flag football.

CD's are here

We got some CD's back from the plant, and they look great. It's really weird to think that this might be our last release in the CD format. They way things are going, the next album will probably be digital download and vinyl only. Doubly weird that vinyl is making such a huge comeback in the digital age. Makes sense though, analog has always sounded better. Plus, there is something very impermanent about digital music. When it comes to archiving, analog still rules.

Well, maybe CD's will make a comeback. I mean if vinyl can come back, and even the humble cassette tape can become cool again, it could happen.

We got some good news today, the San Francisco Weekly made us their mp3 of the day. Checkout the write up that mentions our upcoming SF record release show at the Knockout on Jan 28th. For all you Bay Area people, come on out, grab a Tecate tall can, and bliss out.
